Is a used product right for me?
Used products can be a great way to get your hands on a mobility product without having to pay full retail price.
Can I get these products on Motability?
Mobility Warehouse products are second hand and therefore do not qualify for leasing via the Motability Scheme.
Can I buy a used product if I already have a car on Motability?
Yes, you can buy a used product if you have a car on Motability. Used products are not available on the Motability Scheme so will not clash with your Motability car contract. Mobility Scooters
What scooter brands do you stock?
Our stock varies from week to week and we will typically sell products from most of the leading scooter brands including Sunrise Medical, Pride, TGA Mobility, Freerider, Komfi-Rider, One Rehab, Motion Healthcare, Monarch Mobility and several others.
Is a used scooter right for me?
If you need a mobility scooter, are not eligible for Motability and funding is an issue, there is a good chance a high-quality used product is a great choice for your needs.
What do I need to consider before buying a scooter?
The size and weight capacity of the scooter is important - make sure you pick one compatible with your body shape, size and posture. Also consider any medical conditions and their impact on your ability to operate the scooter. The product should also be able to fit where you plan to use it and store it. You should also consider the lifestyle you are looking for and pick a product that has the right features for you, including choice of tyres, suspension, range, transportability, terrain suitability and any other lifestyle factors.
How do I pick the right scooter for my lifestyle?
There are many factors that influence your choice of a scooter, but typically our customers look at a few key lifestyle points before buying a scooter. Firstly, does it need to go in a car? If so, consider a folding or break-apart boot scooter. Next, what kind of terrain will it be used on? If the terrain is rough or uneven, consider a scooter with more suspension and larger tyres, versus mainly indoor and pavement use which can be managed with smaller, more manoeuvrable products. It is also worth considering the range of the scooter versus the length of trips you will be taking and how large the scooter is and where you have space to store it.
What type of tyres is best?
Air filled tyres are generally more comfortable and provide better traction but can require more maintenance as they need topping up with air and can get punctures. Solid tyres are low maintenance and hard wearing but can make the ride more bumpy and may struggle on some kinds of terrain.
Is a folding scooter right for me?
Folding scooters are collapsible and can fold down into a compact footprint for home storage indoors. However, they are only suitable for people who are physically capable of lifting 26kg+ if they are to be placed in a car or a hoist must be used. If they are never going to be lifted, adequate indoor storage space is needed. One misconception is that folding scooters are better for air travel but in fact they have more limitations and often a boot scooter with a lead acid battery is a better choice for this situation.
Powerchairs
What powerchair brands do you stock?
Our stock varies from week to week but we will typically sell products from leading powerchair brands including Sunrise Medical, Pride, Permobil, Monarch mobility and others.
Is a used powerchair right for me?
If you need a powerchair, are not eligible for Motability and funding is an issue, there is a good chance a high-quality used product is a great choice for your needs. However, you must consider your medical needs and whether the used product can be adjusted to suit your conditions, posture and lifestyle needs.
What do I need to consider before buying a powerchair?
You must consider your lifestyle needs and physical condition before buying a powerchair. Most importantly, ensure that whatever medical, postural and physical needs you have are catered for by the powerchair you choose. There is a huge variety of powered wheelchair styles available, and they have varying levels of configurability and capability to suit many conditions. Your lifestyle considerations should include the terrain you want to use the powerchair on, the distance you need to cover, how you plan to transport and store it when not in use (if at all) and the additional features and functions you need the chair to perform, amongst others.
Where can I find out more about a specific powerchair?
If you find a product you are interested in and want to learn more about the model, you can visit the manufacturer's website to find out more about the product.
